We are reading ‘Star of Fear, Star of Hope’ to develop our writing linked to both the text and our topic, World War 2.
We had a brilliant time during Maths week. We wrote stories for our buddies, took part in a problem solving workshop, learnt life skills linked to money and so much more! Have a look at the pictures to see what we did.
Science- Making Periscopes
We have been learning about how light travels. We put this knowledge to the test and made periscopes! We imagined how they were used during WW2 and why they are still used today.
We love spending time with our Foundation Class buddies!
History- Our Trip to the Imperial War Museum North!
Music- Samba rhythms
We have been learning about Samba rhythms in our music lessons.
Maths- Long Multiplication
We have been using our multiplication knowledge to learn how to do long multiplication. To help us remember we have been listening to this song!
English- Role Play
Today, we took part in a role play activity about a French cafe in 1940. We imagined what it would have been like to work there and be a customer. We then used this to write a description of a cafe.
PE- Attacking and Defending Skills
Year 6 are really enjoying working with Stoke City! We are playing lots of games to practise our attacking and defending skills.
History- Battle of Britain
Today, we completed some independent research to find out about the Battle of Britain. We looked at why it was a key moment in the war, what actually happened and the impact this had. We also looked at what planes were used and tried to draw them.
We looked at what propaganda was and why it played a role in WW2. We then chose a subject we thought would have been important for people to know about and created our own propaganda posters.
Artist Study- Sonia Boyce
We researched British artist Sonia Boyce and then created self-portraits in her style.
