Rotakids
Wed 18 May 2022At Elworth Hall we have an extremely proactive group of children who are part of Rotakids. This was set up 5 years ago with our local community Rotary Clubs in Sandbach. Over the years, it has grown and the children lead their own meetings and decide upon different projects that can meet Rotary Club Aims and Values across the year. This year, the Rotakids have raised money through their annual Pumpkin Carving competition for all age groups. They have carried out litter picking around school and the local community and they are now raising funds for Ukraine by holding a Sun Run in the not too distant future. They are also collecting crisp packets (empty ones) which will be made into blankets for people who are less fortunate than themselves in this country and abroad.

Author Visit to School
Tue 04 Jan 2022Author Rachael Lindsay highlights these subjects in her thrilling novel, The Changeling’s Child. Rachel visited the School to talk about her book. She brought cuddly toys of the troll characters when she visited Elworth Hall Primary School. “Rachael has written six books and I have read two of them – The Changeling Child and Pirates Promise. I thoroughly enjoyed them – I couldn’t put them down. Jess, a Teaching Asssitant at the school said. “The main character is ugly in her own eyes as 'Hobnail' is different from others,” “This is a great representation of a main character for young children in this day and age. “As people are judgemental and children can learn a lot from this peculiar character with 12 fingers and who is blind in one eye. Not all children are aware of differences and this book encourages kindness, friendship and adventure in the best way. “I have loved reading since childhood and really enjoy encouraging children to read more in school, as it is very important for their learning and it's enjoyable.”
