Autumn

We have a very exciting and busy term planned! Please check back regularly to see photos and videos of our learning in actions! 

📖 English- We use 'key texts' to support our writing and grammar skills. Our first text will be The Egg.   

➕ Maths- We follow the White Rose programme of study. This term we learn: Place value- to read, write and understand numbers to 10,000,00, negative numbers, round any number; Four Operations; Fractions- add, subtract, multiply and divide, compare and convert between mixed number and improper; Converting Measurements.  

🧪 Science- We complete one unit per half term. Autumn 1 - Light and Autumn 2 - Electricity 

🎨 Art - Taught during the first half term is portrait drawing inspired by Artist Frida Kahlo.

✂️ D&T - Taught during the second half term is electrical systems involving circuits and switches to make a Steady Hand Game. 

💻 Computing - We will be learning about Networks and Computer Systems are used for collaboration and how to create webpage. We take part in regular online safety quizzes to help refine our knowledge and designs our program of study based on knowledge gaps identified. 

🇪🇸 MFL- We study Spanish from Year 3. This term we will learn how to present information about ourself and our families.

🏑 PE -  Year 6 have 2 PE lessons a week taught by Coaches Colin and Beth. 

🎶 Music- We follow the Love Music Trust curriculum building on knowledge gained in previous years.  

🧡 PHSE- We follow the No Outsiders program, this involves teaching children about relationships in modern society through the use of stories. We will also learn about mental and physical wellbeing, linking this to our emotional literacy and PE knowledge. 

Science- Making Periscopes

We used our knowledge of how light travels to make our own periscopes! We have to ensure the angles were correct so that we could see the image clearly.

Art- Frida Kahlo

We are learning all about Frida Kahlo and her artwork. Take a look at our amazing fact files! 

Geography- Population

We have been looking at the facts that influence the population of a place. We have learnt what birth and death rates are as well as the influence of migration. 

Writing- The Egg

We have started reading our key text- The Egg! We looked at the front cover and made predictions about the story. Then we decided that we can rewrite the story to be more interesting!
